Once a signed contract is sent to the artist the artist will begin when a down payment of $100.00 is sent to for her to purchase the clay to make the original sculpt. The artist will need photos of the child that will not be returned, as stated in the contract. These can be sent by email. From the child's measurements and photos the artist will begin to sculpt, when she has time, the original sculpt, this will be done in polymer clay. She will then send to the parents by email photos of the sculpt for approval or changes. This process will continue until the parents are completely satisfied. When final approval is given the artist will then make, in her own time, the mold boxes for the silicone. When the money is received from the parents to purchase the silicone the artist will order the silicone, then pour the silicone, on her own time frame, into the mold boxes, and then cast the resin into the silicone molds. Then sand the resin, and paint it then sends the finished doll to the parents. Parents pay shipping and handling. This process takes at least a year because the artist works in her free time. She is a full time elementary art teacher in a public elementary school and has four children of her own. Siicone and resin are moisture and humidity sensitive and have a short shelf life. They are expensive to purchase. The artist does not make a living making portrait dolls.
